After taking control early with a 23-0 spurt, the Lions spent most of the final 30 minutes at the free-throw line. Henderson State committed 37 fouls and had four players foul out. The Lions (2-3) made the Reddies (2-1) pay, converting 41-of-51 at the line.  

On Thursday night, Clements showed UNA fans that the reputation was well deserved. Clements scored 17 points in a 5 minute span midway through the second half to help the Lions claim their first win of the season with a 95-86 victory over Henderson State. "I had to find my shot," said Clements, who finished with 34 points.  

Tip-off at Flowers Hall is at 6 p.m. for the women's game and 8 p.m. for the men. The men opened their season Sunday with a 78-65 loss to Christian Brothers. The Lions (0-1) were outrebounded 47-30 by the Buccaneers and shot just 41 percent from the field in the loss.

Missouri State freshman forward Michael Porter had emergency surgery on Wednesday to remove his appendix and could miss up to four weeks of game action. Porter, from Sikeston, had a team-high 12 points in MSU's exhibition-opening victory over Missouri-St. Louis. He had five points and seven rebounds in Tuesday night's exhibition victory over Henderson State.  

Missouri State's exhibition basketball game tonight at JQH Arena will start an estimated 10 minutes late, at about 7:15 p.m., as the opposing team is late. Henderson State, a Division II team from Arkadelphia, Ark., apparently has delayed by traffic en route to the game. Tipoff had been set for 7:05 p.m.  

Justin Bocot scored 16 points, and Kevin Dillard added 15 points and six assists to lead Southern Illinois to an 82-55 exhibition win over Henderson State on Saturday. Head coach Chris Lowery spread the minutes around, as 10 players reached double figures in minutes played. Several newcomers impressed, including Jack Crowder, who scored 12 points off the bench, and Gene Teague, who had six points, nine rebounds and two blocks.  

Nick Graziano continued with his hot hand and the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys romped to their third-straight victory, a 44-14 thumping of Henderson State in a Gulf South Conference game in Arkadelphia on Saturday. Graziano, the Wonder Boys' senior quarterback, set a school record for passing yards for the third time this season. This time he threw for 459 yards and five touchdowns.  

Hundreds of trick-or-treaters are expected to converge on Henderson State University's Garrison Center Oct. 30 for the annual Henderson Halloween celebration. Numerous campus groups and organizations will be scattered throughout the center handing out a variety of tasty treats. Because Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, the event will be held on Friday.  

The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team held the Gulf South Conference-West Division's second best hitting team to a .062 hitting percentage in a 3-1 win over Henderson State. Final game scores were 25-22, 25-27, 25-18 and 25-22. UAM takes over sole possession of third place in the division behind second place Arkansas Tech, which improved to 6-2 Tuesday night with a sweep over Southern Arkansas.  

University of Arkansas at Monticello senior basketball player Monica Perkins-Miller has been selected to the 2009 Preseason All-Gulf South Conference West Division team, while the Cotton Blossoms were predicted to finish third in the division. Perkins-Miller (Houston, Texas) is one of three players selected to the preseason squad that earned first team All-GSC honors at the conclusion of the 2008-09 season.
